By Rev. John Adams —
For several years a young lady and her father had not spoken to each other because of a misunderstanding. It seems he had not forgiven her for something she had done. There was resentment and bitterness on both sides. When she came to see me, she said she desperately wanted to have a harmonious relationship with her father again.
She felt guilty about what she had done and wanted to get rid of the awful feeling she had harbored. Hopefully, there was some way she and her father, whom she obviously loved, could get back together again, but she did not know how.
We began treatment in this way: She was to consciously radiate love to her father, surrounding and enfolding him in love, and silently speaking words of love, approval and forgiveness to him. She was to forgive herself and to accept forgiveness in the assurance that her father had long forgotten about the incident and had already forgiven her. Now, there could only be love between them. Further, she was to imagine them together in a loving relationship, and to say nothing to anyone about what she was doing. After praying together about the situation, in which we agreed that love was taking care of the matter quickly and harmoniously, she went on her way.
It was like a miracle! One day, not long after she had first come to me, she came hurrying into my office, fairly bubbling over with excitement. She said that she had been doing as instructed and for no apparent reason, her father called and said he wanted to see her. This was arranged and it was a tearful but happy re-union for both.
You can just imagine the happiness of these two souls who had long wanted the same thing yet because of perhaps foolish pride or guilt, had avoided each other. Love quickly and silently swept all the blocks away and the result was automatic.
Love is the Golden Key that makes all family relationships happy and real. Love not only brings family members closer together in true, creative activity, it keeps them together in peace and harmony. No matter how far people may stray away from each other, there is always the spiritual bond of love that maintains unity while allowing each other to be free.
There is no substitute for love in family and in all human relationships.

Give and it will be given to you, good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap; for the measure you give will be the measure you get back. Luke 6:38
